Mourning for Prof. Hans B. Bauerfeind - Company owner of Bauerfeind AG passes away

Prof. Hans B. Bauerfeind passed away on 13 July 2023, Bauerfeind AG announced. The entrepreneur, who was born in Zeulenroda, Thuringia, was 82 years old. OTWorld and Leipziger Messe deeply empathise with the death of the company owner, who developed Bauerfeind AG into one of the world's leading manufacturers of medical aids such as bandages, orthoses, medical compression stockings and orthopaedic insoles.

Prof. Hans B. Bauerfeind worked for the family business for six decades. He officially joined the company in 1962 and took over the management in 1978. He turned the rubber stocking knitting factory founded by his grandfather in Zeulenroda in 1929 into one of the world's leading manufacturers of medical aids such as bandages, orthoses, medical compression stockings and orthopaedic insoles with over 2,000 employees. In 2020, Prof. Hans B. Bauerfeind handed over the chairmanship of the Executive Board to Rainer Berthan, and he resigned from his position as Chairman of the Supervisory Board last year.

Prof. Hans B. Bauerfeind was a long-standing, significant supporter of OTWorld in Leipzig: through his company, he played an active role in shaping the sector’s largest get-together and the world's most important meeting place for all manufacturers, dealers and service providers in the field of modern orthopaedic treatment and care and always saw OTWorld as the most important platform for Bauerfeind AG. Prof. Hans B. Bauerfeind was an outstanding entrepreneur who always had his sights set on being able to provide people with medical aids in the best possible way.
