OTWorld World Congress 2024: Over 2,500 participants from 61 countries organised a global exchange of knowledge in orthopaedic treatment and care

Over 300 international speakers, 360 lectures, 50 poster presentations and 33 practical workshops provided visitors of the OTWorld World Congress from 14 to 17 May 2024 with inspiration for orthopaedic treatment and care of tomorrow. With 2,550 participants from 61 countries, the OTWorld World Congress once again emphasised its global significance. For the first time, participants arrived also from New Caledonia, South Korea and Guadeloupe.

The content of the World Congress met with broad approval: More than 80 per cent of the congress visitors surveyed praised the high quality of the presentations. The organisation, too, was rated positively by more than three quarters of the participants. The extensive congress programme covered all the key topics in orthopaedic treatment and care – from orthotics, prosthetics and neuro-orthotics to rehabilitation and materials research. Over 300 speakers from more than 30 countries provided a global perspective.

The approximately 400 participants – including speakers, chairpersons and patients – contributed significantly to the success of the World Congress under the leadership of the two congress presidents Prof. Dr Thomas Wirth and Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Ingo Pfefferkorn. The programme design was supported by 30 specialist associations. In addition to the lecture programme, the World Congress also offered for the first time (hands-on) workshops with direct relevance to the participants’ everyday working lives, as well as a separate training programme for medical supply store employees. In total, the programme of the World Congress comprised an impressive 94 hours.

OTWorld thus once again confirmed its status as the leading platform for the international exchange of knowledge and further development in orthopaedic technology and orthopaedic treatment and care.
