Prosthetics and Orthotics

In 2024, OTWorld once again showcased innovations and the latest scientific findings on the optimal provision of prostheses, orthoses, corsets, and other aids.

Leading national and international companies from over 30 countries presented a unique range of products and services in the technical orthopaedics market segment at the world's largest innovation show in the industry. The largest and most important congress in the industry offered a unique exchange of knowledge and experience. What's more, specialist colleagues, as well as doctors and physiotherapists, met in Leipzig to share their experiences. A unique opportunity!

NEW: OTWORLD.3D

Manufacturing using 3D printing is creating new possibilities and changing the industry. The most important innovations were presented in the OTWorld.3D exhibition area.

High-calibre specialist and practical knowledge for everyone!

For the first time, visitors could also attend all workshops at the world congress with the OTWorld Trade Show Ticket. Prosthetists and orthotists even received further training points from the IQZ for this visit. OTWorld exhibitors also showcased their innovations in over 50 exhibitor workshops.

In 2024, there were exciting contributions on the following topics, among others:

  • Paediatric/adolescent and neuro-orthopaedics
  • Orthotics
  • Prosthetics
  • Materials research
  • Sports prophylaxis/accident injury

Orthopaedic Footwear Technology

Orthopaedic footwear technicians met in the OTWorld.shoe-technology exhibition area. There, visitors found innovative techniques for the orthopaedic footwear technology trade and new products.

At the centre of OTWorld.shoe-technology was the meeting point for orthopaedic footwear technology on the subject of sensomotoric insoles. These are of great importance for neurological disorders, among other things. For which clinical pictures are they indicated and how can they be optimised? The fitting of sensomotoric foot orthoses requires craftspeople to have adequate user skills that go beyond basic knowledge. In addition, quality and care standards must be defined for individualised, indication-based and high-quality care. At the Orthopaedic Footwear Technology Meeting Point, which was jointly developed and supervised by the Competence Centre for Orthopaedic Footwear Technology and the Studiengemeinschaft Orthopädieschuhtechnik e.V., visitors could obtain information and exchange ideas on this important topic.

The congress also offered numerous programme items on the topic of healthy feet.

Rehabilitation Technology

The OTWorld 2024 world congress once again offered a comprehensive platform for targeted training and informed visitors about the latest developments and knowledge in the field of rehabilitation technology through a variety of workshops and other events. Through a range of topics and content, participants had the opportunity to expand their expertise and learned about innovative approaches and technologies used in rehabilitation.

Medical Supply Stores

OTWorld is an indispensable industry event for the medical supply trade - as the most important address for further training and as a central international platform for the trade in medical aids and healthcare products. The latest offers for the product range, suggestions for shop design and product presentation, practical presentations and workshops - this is where employees get fit for the care of the future!

Better care through knowledge advantage

Compression care is a central service of every medical supply retailer. Specialist knowledge is required for the complex care of patients with lymphatic disorders. In the "Lymphology" workshop series, patients were shown how it can be done even better. More practical relevance is not possible!

More insight for commercial staff

The business management requirements for commercial employees in medical supply stores are increasing due to increasing digitalisation, but also due to the ever more extensive contracts with health insurance companies. On 1 July 2027, the e-prescription for medical aids will become mandatory for all orthopaedic companies and medical supply stores. It pays to familiarise yourself with the topic early on. On E-Prescription Day on 16 May 2024, numerous project partners such as the German Association of Orthopaedic Technology (BIV-OT) provided insights into the "ePrescription for orthopaedic aids" pilot project at their exhibition stands.

OTWorld offered solutions for more transparency in the IT sector. All IT providers offering solutions in this area were represented here. Visitors could also find out more about this important topic at the information stand in Hall 3 and on various tours of the trade fair.

Medicine

Doctors, orthopaedic surgeons, trauma surgeons, rehabilitation physicians and sports physicians benefited from certified training courses and intensive dialogue within the interdisciplinary care team at OTWorld 2024.

Education

There is a lot to discover in 2024 for skilled workers in training and studies as well as those interested in further education and training: the joint stand OTWorld.campus and the Youth.Academy TO .
